Meet Mr. Gidron, Our band director
Mr. Robert Keith Gidron, born in Atlanta and raised in Augusta, Georgia, has been learning and participating in music for twenty plus years. He has been teaching public school education going into his sixth year this 2026-2027 school year.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from Jackson State University. He received his master’s degree in education from Purdue University. Mr. Gidron is currently pursuing his doctorate degree at Liberty University.
With this being his first year teaching at the Academy of Richmond County High School, he is excited to share his knowledge of music. He has a passion for motivating and transforming students through music education.

Meet Coach Mickey, Head of Auxiliary
Coach Mickey is a valued member of the Purple Pride Marching Band staff whose years of dedication and experience have made her an important part of the program. With extensive knowledge of both music and dance, she helps students develop the skills, discipline, and confidence needed to perform at their highest level.
Her commitment to excellence and passion for teaching continue to make a lasting impact on the Purple Pride family.

Meet Our Assistant Directors
Mr. Antoine Mills
Mr. Antoine Mills, born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, has been learning and participating in music for over seven years. He has been coaching at the Academy of Richmond County High School for the last five years and is excited to share his knowledge of music. He has a passion for motivating and transforming students through music an getting them to the next level.
Mrs. Brittany Smalls
Mrs. Brittany Smalls assists with both the Dance Line and Flag Line, helping students build confidence, teamwork, and performance skills. Her dedication and support contribute to the continued success of the Purple Pride Marching Band's auxiliary program.

Mr. Roy Pittman
Mr. Roy Pittman serves as the Sousaphone Instructor and Assistant to the Band Director for the Purple Pride Marching Band. A longtime member of the program, he is dedicated to helping students grow as musicians while supporting the band's continued success.

Mr. Dave Wright assists with the Drumline and the Purple Pride Marching Band overall. A longtime member of the program, he is a big help to our skilled percussionists while inspiring teamwork, discipline, and excellence in every performance.
