Rock the VOTE!

PPMB at Paine College: Music, Community & Civic Engagement

PPMB had the opportunity to join Paine College for an event centered on an important goal: helping people get ready to vote. Along with music from PPMB and a DJ, staff were available to help attendees register to vote, update their voter information, and find their polling locations.

Attendees also had an opportunity to hear from candidates in the upcoming elections, adding another element to a day focused on voter awareness and civic participation. The event even brought a surprise visit from former Atlanta Mayor and current Georgia gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms, who stopped by the Paine College voter rally and spoke with students.

And whew, the weather definitely decided to participate too! It was the hottest day we had experienced all week. Thankfully, most of the band was able to perform from a shady spot. A special shout-out goes to our 10K dancer and Flagline dancers, who ended up performing in the sun because of the overflow. You all handled that heat and still did an amazing job!

PPMB provided live music throughout the event and, as always, represented the Purple Pride wonderfully. Of course, there was one small tragedy: the lemonade stand ran out of lemonade. The band was understandably disappointed, but they made the best of it with the other entrées and refreshing treats available. Sometimes perseverance looks a lot like finding a Plan B snack!

Beyond the music, food, and fun, the day had a meaningful purpose. It brought voter resources directly into the community and created an opportunity for people to learn more about the upcoming election, hear from candidates, ask questions, and make sure they had the information needed to participate.

For PPMB, it was another chance to use music to be part of something larger than a performance. Great music, community involvement, civic engagement, and plenty of Purple Pride made it a day well spent.
